Yellowhead Gas Co-op is a rural natural gas utility serving members across western Alberta from the communities of Edson and Hinton to nearby acreages, farms, and subdivisions.
We were established to meet a critical need: access to safe, affordable natural gas in areas larger utility companies don’t serve. As a member-owned co-operative, our priority is providing natural gas services to our members, and helping the co-operative thrive through reinvestment in our franchise area.
Our structure means that decisions are made locally, rates are kept low, and any surplus is reinvested into the system that supports you. We don’t offer dividends or incentives. Instead, we focus on what matters most: strong infrastructure, reliable service, and access for all members.
With more than 3,000+ active members and thousands of kilometers of pipeline infrastructure, Yellowhead Gas Co-op plays a vital role in keeping rural Alberta connected to essential energy.
We support local jobs, provide member-first service, and help ensure that your home, farm, or business has the natural gas it needs in the heart of Yellowhead County.
Community members looking after community members, that’s what the co-operative difference is all about!
Our team includes experienced gas utility operators, administrators, and board members living in our franchise area. Every year, we conduct an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where members can vote and stay involved in key decisions.
Unlike private energy providers, our priority isn’t growth at all costs. It’s providing dependable energy access that reflects the values of our rural communities.
We work hard to:
Our franchise area includes properties between Jasper Gates, Carrot Creek, Hinton, Edson and Woodlands County. We’re always working to strengthen our service and simplify how members access it.
If you live within the franchise area and need natural gas service, or if you’re just looking to understand more about how we operate, we’re happy to help!
There’s more to Yellowhead Gas than just pipelines and meters. Our history, leadership, and long-standing commitment to the region are all part of what makes us different.
